Shout to the Lord, all the earth, let us sing
Power and majesty, praise to the King.
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
at the sound of Your name.
I sing for joy at the work of Your hands,
forever I’ll love You, forever I’ll stand,
nothing compares to the promise I have in You.
-song by Darlene Zschech
During this decision-making process there is ONE thing I am absolutely sure of: God is my steadfast anchor and it is through him that all things are possible. I pray consistently that I will be able to let God lead me so that I can flourish in His plan that He has set forth for me.
Since I am a teacher, our family’s summers have always been a time for much play. We camp regularly all summer long and have created many fond family memories. I have found God to be distinctly present in many of the natural settings we have had the privilege of visiting and I have had many deep spiritual experiences there. During the school year we are regular attendees of church and volunteer in a number of capacities. During summer we almost never go to church because we are gone so much or are just plain having fun reveling in the appreciation of no schedules. It becomes easier and easier to skip church after a few weeks and pretty soon it’s fall and church has a bit of an “unfamiliar” feel. (Hate that!) Since The Decision, I have been much more deliberate in building and maintaining my relationship with God. I believe that children learn by way of whatever model we present as our everyday living.
The Change: We attended Thursday night worship for the first time, since we are unable to attend Sunday worship this week. Regular worship matters.
